Q: Where is my data stored, and is it secure?
A: Our app runs on Atlassian’s Forge platform, so all app data is stored within Atlassian’s cloud infrastructure (rather than on external servers). This means your data never leaves the Atlassian environment, adhering to their high security standards. All information handled by the app is encrypted in transit and at rest according to Atlassian’s policies. Atlassian has also implemented strict measures to ensure Forge apps meet data privacy regulations like GDPR. In short, your data is protected by the same security and compliance protocols that Atlassian uses for its own cloud products.
Q: I installed the app, but I can’t find it in Jira – where do I access it?
A: If the app isn’t visible after installation, it’s likely an access permission issue. Many Forge apps require certain global permissions for users to see or use the app’s features. Ask a Jira administrator to check Global Permissions (under Jira Settings > System > Global permissions) and ensure the permission for the app (often named after the app) is granted to the appropriate user groups. Once the admin updates the global permissions to include your user group, the app’s entry (for example, an item under the Apps menu or a project page) should become visible. If you still cannot find the app after adjusting permissions, please contact our support for further help.
Q: Will I lose any data if I uninstall and reinstall the app?
A: Uninstalling a Forge app can lead to data loss. When a Forge app is uninstalled, Atlassian will eventually delete any data stored by the app in accordance with their data retention policy (generally within 30 days of uninstall). In other words, if you remove the app from your Jira instance, any information the app stored (such as its configuration or app-specific data) may be wiped. This is a known limitation of the Forge platform. We recommend not uninstalling the app if you have important data tied to it. If you must uninstall (for example, during troubleshooting), consider exporting or backing up any critical data first. Once you reinstall the app, it will start with a clean state since the previous data may have been removed.
